Emily Stoner, MS, LMHC, Psychotherapist

Feeling anxious? Going through a difficult transition? Don't feel like getting out of bed? Depression, anxiety, and life transitions are all common issues Emily has assisted clients through. She has her associate license in Mental Health Counseling (LMHCA).
Emily first joined Kenosis to complete her graduate studies and has stayed on as an associate at Kenosis.  Emily received her Master of Counseling and Counselor Education degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.  She also has dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Youth, Adult & Family Services.  She has counseled in the school setting as well as at the Indiana University Center for Human Growth, working with both college students and members of the community.
Specializing in anxiety and depression, Emily has led Emotion Regulation and Anxiety Reduction groups as well as incorporated these coping skills into her individual counseling sessions. She also has specialized experience in assessment and referral in regards to higher levels of acuity (suicidality, psychosis, and substance dependence) from her work in the Access department in an inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse facility.
In her view, counseling can be beneficial to all people. She is very client focused and practices from a human growth perspective; she believes everyone can advance themselves through counseling, no matter their presenting concern. She meets the client where they are and works collaboratively to get them to where they want to be. She assists the client in utilizing their strengths to reach their full potential.
